Updates
What's new, improved, and coming soon on Velunite
Rename groups
In the group details, the admin can now change the group name.
Group chats
On the Messages page you can create a group, name it and add the people you follow, just like WhatsApp. The creator is the admin and can add or remove people, and anyone can leave at any time. Every message reaches members as a notification.
Direct messages to friends
From the Messages page you can write to anyone you follow with the "New message" button, and every user profile now has a "Message" button. The chat refreshes on its own and works well on phones.
Notifications on Android too, with a guide and a test
The Notifications page now has a step-by-step guide to turn them on for Android (Chrome, Samsung Internet, Firefox), tips if they don't arrive and a "Send a test notification" button to check they work. If you open Velunite inside Instagram or Facebook we tell you to open it in your browser, because notifications don't work there.
Notifications: now one tap to turn on
On the Notifications page there is a new "Turn on notifications" button: get an alert on your phone or computer when someone follows you, comments or invites you to a ride, even when the site is closed. On iPhone and iPad just add Velunite to your Home Screen: the page shows you how. You can turn them off any time.
Profile with a photo of your sport
Your profile, and other members' profiles, now has a banner with a photo of your sport cut diagonally with the logo's thread of light, and an avatar with a colourful ring. On phones the data stays in a single readable column.
A brighter home, with a photo of your sport
After login the home page has a new background: a photo of your sport cut diagonally, with a thread of light in the logo colours. Switch from cycling to running and the photo changes with you. On phones it becomes a band at the top.
Import your bikes from Strava
In My bikes you can import the bikes you have on Strava, with brand, model and total km already filled in. Future rides on that bike are matched automatically.
Friend profiles: bikes, stats, clubs and friends list
On a friend's profile you now see their bikes, the last 4 weeks / year / all-time table, the clubs and teams they belong to, mutual friends, and you can browse their followers and following. Stats only count activities recorded on Velunite. Upcoming rides, personal records, recent rides with map (start and finish hidden) and preferred sport; from your profile you can hide bikes, clubs or rides.
My bikes: front/rear pads and new bike types
Front and rear brake pads are tracked separately, and bike type is chosen from Road bike, E-bike, Gravel, E-MTB and MTB.
The whole site in 4 languages
The blog (104 articles), calculators, 2027 calendar, city pages, climb guides and site messages are now available in Italian, English, Spanish and German, with dates and numbers in your language's format.
My bikes: components, wear and spare parts
New menu section: add your bikes, pick which bike you ride on each outing (future Strava activities already carry it) and track chain, brake pads, tyres and tubeless sealant with wear, guides and links to spare parts. Km already ridden are entered by hand.
Fountains and cafés while you draw the route
In the Route Builder you can turn on the «Fountains and cafés» layer to see fountains, cafés and repair stations on the map, and once the route is drawn you see how many fountains it has, where the first one is and the longest stretch without water.
Wind along the route
The ride page now shows the wind section by section (headwind, tailwind, crosswind) and the best start time of the day, using Open-Meteo forecasts.
Recurring rides
Create a ride every week, every 2 or every 4 weeks: each date has its own RSVPs and chat, the time stays the same across daylight saving changes, and you can cancel the whole series at once.
Water fountains and cafés for cyclists and runners
A new free map of drinking-water fountains, cafés and repair stations (OpenStreetMap data), plus a list of useful stops along the route of every ride.
Route on your bike computer
Download a ride's route as FIT (Garmin), GPX (Wahoo, Hammerhead) or TCX, send it from your phone to your device's app and add the ride to your calendar. The FIT file was rewritten so Garmin devices can actually read it.
Strava activities seen by others
On activities synced from Strava, viewers no longer see zero elevation and speed: average speed from distance and time, elevation estimated from terrain, no made-up values.

We're working on Strava integration to automatically sync your activities.

Activity file import
