Where to run and cycle in Turin
Turin has it all: parks along the Po for running and, minutes from the centre, the hills and Alpine valleys for cycling climbs.
Where to run in Turin
Parco del Valentino
Along the Po, in the heart of the city: shaded, flat avenues, ideal for easy runs and intervals.
Lungo Po and Parco del Meisino
The riverbanks let you run a long way north to the Meisino, a quieter, more natural area.
Parco della Pellerina
One of the largest urban parks in the city, with wide lawns and dirt paths.
La Mandria (Venaria Reale)
A regional park at the city's gates, with roads closed to traffic amid greenery: excellent for long runs and for anyone after peace and quiet.
Bike rides from Turin
Superga
Turin's signature climb, from the Po to the basilica: short but hard, the finish of the Milano-Torino. From there you continue on the hill roads.
Colle della Maddalena and the Turin hills
Constant ups and downs a stone's throw from the centre: the right place to build climbing strength during the week.
Lanzo valleys and Val Susa
At weekends, the Alpine valleys offer long climbs such as the Colle del Lys and the roads to the Moncenisio.
Practical tips
The hills are a few kilometres from the centre: you can climb even in a 90-minute ride. In winter watch for ice and fog on shaded roads.
