Where to run and cycle in Bari
Bari has one of Italy's longest seafronts for running and, behind it, the Murge and the Itria Valley for cyclists.
Where to run in Bari
Lungomare
Very long and flat, from the centre towards the south and the north: ideal for long runs and steady-pace work.
Parco 2 Giugno
The city's big urban park, with avenues and loops suited to easy runs.
Pane e Pomodoro and the south coast
Towards the south the coast opens up and the seafront carries on with less traffic.
Bike rides from Bari
Murge
The plateau behind the city: quiet roads, rolling terrain and dry-stone walls, all the way to Castel del Monte.
Coast towards Polignano and Monopoli
Scenic rides by the sea, easy to combine with the hinterland.
Itria Valley
Alberobello, Locorotondo and Martina Franca: gentle hills and some of the most beautiful roads in the South.
Practical tips
Wind is the real opponent: plan the ride to come home with a tailwind. In summer the coastal roads are busy, so favour the hinterland.
